Medea Abrahamyan, a celebrated Armenian cellist, began her musical education at the Yerevan Musical High School. She then moved to Moscow, and entered the Moscow "Tchaikovsky" State Conservatory, where she studied with the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. Ms. Abrahamyan is a laureate of several national and international music competitions, including the G.Vigan International Competition (Prague).
Since graduating, Ms. Abrahamyan has pursued an active performance career as a soloist in concerts and music festivals throughout Armenia and the nations of the former Soviet Union, as well as in Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Iceland, Korea, the Middle East, Canada, and the US, among other places. Her repertoire is rather extensive, covering the great cello works from the Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras.
