Kate Harris (Leeuwarden, 1981) began her cello lessons with Jiri Prchal at the age of seven and continued at the North Netherlands Conservatoire with Jan Ype Nota and Troels Svane. She took masterclasses with Pieter Wispelwey, Colin Carr, David Geringas and Heinrich Schiff and studied for a few months with Michel Strauss at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. In 1996 she performed at the International Youth Festival of the Year 2000 in St. Petersburg (Russia) and made her début with the North Netherlands Orchestra shortly after with the Cello Concerto in a minor of Camille Saint-Saëns. In 1999 she won the first prize at the Princess Christina Contest in Groningen. At the moment she studies at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck, Germany. |
