Alice Neary won the 1998 Pierre Fournier Award, was second prize winner in the 1997 Adam International Cello Competition in New Zealand, won the String Section of the 1996 Royal Overseas League Competition and Silver Medal in the 1994 Shell/LSO Competition resulting in a performance of the Haydn C major Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra in the Barbican. She was also a major prize winner in the 2001 Leonard Rose Cello Competition. In January 1999 she gave an acclaimed Wigmore Hall debut which has been followed by two other successful recitals. Other recent performances include the Park Lane Group Series at the Purcell Room, BBC Radio 3 and NPR (USA) broadcasts, concertos with the English Chamber Orchestra and recitals at the Bridgewater Hall and at the Manchester International Cello Festival. In 1995 she played solo in a recording for Sony Classical of Innocence by John Tavener, and appeared in The South Bank Show on Tavener for London Weekend Television. In 1999 Alice participated in the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and was Artist-in-Residence at the Presteigne Festival, where she premiered a festival commission by John McCabe. In early 2000 she toured Israel with the Israel Symphony Orchestra. She is a member of the Gould Piano Trio.
