In Hwa Lee, a native of South Korea, began her musical education on piano and violin at age four and began studying the cello at the age of seven. She has been the top prize winner at many competitions, including First Prize at The Alexander & Buono International Competition and First Prize in The Ackerman Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize at the Moscow Virtuoso International Competition for Youth in Russia, the 5 Towns Musician and Arts Foundation Music Competition in New York, and Joong-Ang Times, Ewha Kyunghyang, Hankook Times, and Segye Times, Chosun Times Music Competitions in Korea. Also, She was Semi-Finalist at Luis Sigall International Cello Competition in Chile. She recently gave a recital supported by the Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation and has been featured on KBS television and KBS radio broadcasts and "Playbill" magazine. In 2008, She was invited by Korean embassies to make a concert tour of the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Colombia. A frequent performer with International Sejong Soloists, she made a concert tour of Korea in March 2009. Ms.Lee has performed in masterclasses presented by David Geringas, Bernard Greenhouse, Ko Iwasaki, Ralph Kirshbaum, Laurence Lesser, Shauna Rolston, Irene Sharp, Jian Wang, and members of the Tokyo String Quartet. Ms. Lee received a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Korean National University of Arts, where she studied with Myung-Wha Chung, and earned both a Master of Music Degree and an Artist Diploma at Yale University, where she studied with Aldo Parisot. Ms.Lee is currently a doctoral candidate at Stony Brook University of New York where she study with Colin Carr. |
