Monique Bartels studied violoncello with Jean-Louis Hardy and Jean Decroos and graduated with her solo-playing diploma from the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Since then she has been a member of Camarata Lysy in Gstaad, the Amphion Ensemble in Antwerp and the Doelen Quartet. She was a solo cellist of the Amsterdam┼fs Sinfonietta. She regularly gives chamber music concerts with various ensembles including the Netherlands String Sextet, the Parc Quartet and the Trocadero Ensemble. These ensembles have made various recordings and have performed in the Netherlands and abroad. Ton de Leeuw wrote the piece "Apparence I pour violoncelle-solo" and Peter Jan Wagemans composed his composition "Worauf hoffen", for two cellos for her. She has played with many famous musicians including Paul Badura-Skoda, Nobuko Imai, Philippe Hirshhorn, Suzanne Mildonian and Wout Oosterkamp. Monique Bartels is Professor of Violoncello at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Since 2000 she is a teacher at the Margess International of Switzerland.
