DUAIV — The artist known as Duaiv (pronounced Doo-arf) was born in 1952 in the community of Charentes-Maritimes in western France. Today, Duaiv is a Commander of the Order of the Star of Europe and undoubtedly one of the most distinguished French Impressionists alive today.
Duaiv demonstrated his artistic talent at a distinctly young age. He began painting at the age of 3 and had completed his first work in oil at the age of nine. But the young artist also showed early promise as a musician. So, when Duaiv was of age, he was enrolled in both the Conservatory of Music and the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he met and married Magella, a classical ballet dancer. Today, they have two children Kalinka and Vlasseuskaia.
Inspired by Pablo Cassels, Duaiv became a concert-performing cellist as well as a renowned Impressionist, who has given numerous private performances for distinguished gatherings at such venues as the Maison de l'Amerique Latine and the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco, and the Chapelle de la Misericorde in Vallauris.
During the last ten years, the work of Duaiv the artist has received considerable recognition. In 1994, the Minister of Defense and Mayor of the City of Frejus invited Duaiv to be his Guest of Honor at a major art exhibition hosted by the town. In 1995, his work was exhibited at the Grand Hotel in Cannes and in Monaco on the occasion of the Monaco Grand Prix. In 1996, the city of Cannes awarded him a public commission and an official presentation at the Palais des Festivales. In 1997, the French Consul-General invited him to exhibit in Switzerland. In 1999, he was invited by the French Minister of Culture to exhibit in Belgium. In 2001, the Minister of Arts for Tunisia invited him to take up residence in that country to help develop and promote the Arts. Duaiv has been awarded Academicien International, the Prix de la Foundation Europeanne as well as Commander de l'Ordre de l'Etoile de l'Europe.
Duaiv is planning further exhibitions in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia.
Born in France , Duaiv started his musical journey at the age of 8 years old when he met the famous cellist Pablo Casals at the Prades Festival.
From 1960 to 1977 he studied with the following:
1960 - 1964: Classes with Robert Salles
1964 - 1968; Classes with Carlo Gessi at La Rochelle Conservatory of Music.
1968 - 1970: Preparatory studies with Erwan Faure for acceptance at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris.
1971 - 1975: Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris: pupil of Master Bernard Michelin. 1976 till 1977: Solo Cellist with the Unesco Orchestra in Paris. At the same time, Duaiv perfected his studies in Chamber Music with the Parenin Quartet.
Duaiv has been featured in numerous concerts and recitals in Europe, South America, North America and Tunisia where he resided for a short while. Duaiv keep taking master classes on a regular basis with Master Alexander Ivaskin.
Duaiv plays a CA. MIREMONT 1867 Since 2002, Duaiv made South Florida his home dividing his time between continuous studies and practice of his favorite instrument the cello and he his a International reknown Artist, represented at the PHILLIP'S GALLERIES 318 Worth Avenue in PALM BEACH, where he will have a Show on February 2008
