Born 1979 in Hartberg, Austria, Katharina Gross studied at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz with Hildgund Posch, the Musikhochschule Lübeck with David Geringas, at the Musikhochschule Cologne with Frans Helmerson (Diploma 2003) and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Ralph Kirshbaum (Diploma in Professional Performance 2005).
She took part in master classes with Mstislaw Rostropovich, Martin Lovett, Harvey Shapiro, Karine Georgian and Philippe Muller.

She won the first price at the Liezen International Cello Competition in Austria, second prices at the Gorizia International Cello Competition in Italy and the International Brahms Competition Pörtschach, Austria.

On tour to Spain she was the soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Kiev. Other appearances as soloist included the Philharmonic Orchestra of Klausenburg, the Staatsorchester Kassel and the Symphonic Orchestra of Thüringen, performing the cello concerti by H.Pfitzner and J.Myslivecek among others.

In November 2006 she performed the cello concerto by Haydn and Sallinen´s Nocturnal Dances of Don Juanquixote with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists on a tour to the USA (Kennedy Center/Washington DC, The Old Cabell Hall/Charlottesville, the American Theatre in Hampton, at “Abendmusik” in Lincoln, the Bethel Performing Arts Series a.o.).

Recital appearances brought her to Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and the USA: she has already performed in recital at Wiener Konzerthaus, at the Salzburger Kulturtage, the Festival Santander, at the Langenargener Sommerkonzerte, Schlosskonzerte Arolsen, Celloherbst am Hellweg, the Musica nei Castelli/Trentino, the Festivals Limone sul Garda and Caldonazzo, Festival Promenade in Torri del Benaco, Pomeriggi musicali di Salò, Aulos – Musica da Camera in Lugano and in Thessaloniki/Vafopoulio a.o.

In 2005 her first CD was released by AULOS/Musikado with works by Schubert, de Falla, Ligeti and Shostakovich.

Kathatina Gross is also an active chamber musician. She was invited by the Párkányi Quartet/Ex Orlando Quartet to play the String Quintet in C major by Schubert in the Netherlands, Germany and Austria.
2007 Concerts with the Danish Esbjerg Ensemble.
She is a member of the Camerata Busoni based in the Netherlands (together with Marco Roosink – Vl, Ferdinand Erblich – Vla, Geoffrey Madge – Piano and Arnold Marinissen – Percussion)who will give concerts a.o. at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Muziekzentrum De Toonzaal in Herzogenbusch, at Musis Sacrum in Arnhem and the Muziekpodium Zeeland in Middelburg in the season 2007/08.

2007 founder and artistic director of the Kornberger Festtage, Austria.
