Ruslan Vilensky is a Latvian cellist, born in 1985, and began playing the cello when he was seven years old. He has been attached to the Jurmala Music College where he had several teachers, the most recent being Prof. Eleonora Testelec. From October 2003 he is studying at “Hanns Eisler” Academy of Music in Berlin with world renowned cellist Prof. David Geringas. From 2007-2009 he was scholarship holder of the Orchestral-Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. He is laureate of international competitions such as A. Khachaturyan, K. Davidov, D. Popper, Concertino Praga
After invitation from Maestro Valery Gergiev is Ruslan Vilensky Guest Cellist in Mariinsky Orchestra. He has performed with Latvian National Orchestra, Armenian National Orchestra, Norddeutsche Philharmonie, Kaunas Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica Freixenet, Riga Festival Orchestra, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, Latvian Chamber Orchestra and others
Played in such Halls as “Concertgebouw hall” in Amsterdam (Holland), “Konzerthaus” in Berlin, Berliner Philharmonie, „Alte Oper“ Frankfurt, “Theater Diligentia Den Haag” in Hague (Holland), „Berwaldhallen“ in Stochholm (Sweden)
As a chamber musician played concerts with David Geringas, Silvia Markovici, Harthmut Rohde, Paul Rivinius, Ulf Hoelscher, Paul Rozenthal, Arvids Klishans, Rafi Haradzanjan and others. Collaborated with early music specialists such as Reinhard Goebels and Giovanni Antonini, performing Bach and Haendel
Took part in masterclasses with Janos Starker, Frans Helmerson, Antonio Meneses, Pavel Gililov, Natalia Shakhovskaya, Walter Grimmer, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Dmitri Fertshman, Harro Ruijsenaars, Zakhar Bron, Dietmund Poppen, Claudio Martinez-Mehner and others
He has also performed at many festivals including “Acanthes” Festival in France, “Pazaislis Festival” in Lithuania, “Santander Festival” in Spain, “Mstislav Rostropovich” Cello Festival, “Beauvais festival” in France
