HEIDI LITSCHAUER was born in Vienna where she completed her cello studies in the class of Frieda Litschauer in 1964.
She went on to study with G. Cassado and W. Orloff and also participated in master classes held by E. Mainardi and P. Casals.In 1961 she won the international competition in Munich, and in 1965 the international competition in Santiago de Compostela which was followed by her concerts all over the world and recordings with TELDEC.
From 1957 to 1970 she played in the Vienna Trio, and from 1970 in the Vienna Flute Trio with which she has done recordings with DECCA. Since 1978 she has been a member of the Mozarteum String Trio, later on Mozarteum String Quintet. She has been giving recitals and concerts with orchestras in Europe, the USA, Mexico, Japan, South Africa, and taking part in music festivals in Salzburg, Vienna etc.

Since 1984 she has been the solo-cellist of the Camerata academica in Salzburg, conducted by Sandor Vegh. She teaches at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and holds master classes in Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Montreux, Salzburg, Frankfurt etc.
