Glenda Piek is originally from South Africa, where she played in professional orchestras for 17 years is Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, and lectured at Potchefstroom University. She obtained her master's degree at Western Illinois University under the tutelage of Dr. Tanya Carey. She has been teaching in the SIUE Suzuki program since 1992. She also teaches in St. Louis for the St. Louis Symphony Community Music School. She is frequently invited to teach in Europe and Africa. Despite having close to 70 students, Glenda still finds the time to arrange music for her cello ensembles and leads some of our finest cellos in her Cello Ensemble. Some of her former students are at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Julliard, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Royal Academy in London. Glenda directs the SIUE Suzuki Advanced Cello Ensemble.
