Jakub Tylman was born in 1983 in Prague. He received there his first musical education with Martin Skampa, doc. Miroslav Petráš and Jiří Bárta. Since 2003, he has been studying in Berlin in the class of Prof. Boris Pergamenschikow. After his passing away, he moved to the class of Prof. Frans Helmerson in Cologne, where he is studying now.

He is prize winner of many national and international competitions, e.g. European Music Prize Competition, Int. Heran Cello Competition , Int. Dotzauer Cello Competition in Dresden, or Concerto Competition of Sewanee Summer Music Center in Tennessee, USA. He took part in final of Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians, Talent of the Year 2000, Alexandre Tansman Competition of Music Personalities, etc. He is a holder of Firmenich Prize of prestigious Verbier Festival and Academy in Switzerland, and of the "Music Hope of Europe" prize awarded by Fondation des Prix Européens and European Parliament.

As an active participant, he took part on numerous masterclasses, a.o.with Heinrich Schiff, Anner Bylsma and Pieter Wispelwey. As a soloist cooperated with Berlin Radio Orchestra, Oslo Radio Orchestra, Saarbruecken Radio Orchestra, Prague Philharmonia Orchestra, Suk Chamber Orchestra, Prague Chamber Soloists, Berg Chamber Orchestra, or Marek Janowski, Bjarte Engeset, Alexander Lonquich, Petr Eben, Vladimir Válek and Václav Hudeček
