Young Slovenian artist Karmen Pečar first attracted the public attention at the age of thirteen, when she had her debut with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. At that time she performed Elgar’s Concerto for Cello. In 2003, she graduated from the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class of Valter Dešpalj with whom she continued studying for master’s degree. She further studied with Reinhard Latzko at the Music Academy in Vienna. As a soloist, she has appeared in music centers of Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Italy and Germany. She won the 2001 International Cello Competition in Viña del Mar, Chile. Last year, at the Antonio Janigro International competition, she won the second prize. |
